Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Warner Robins man after a pursuit from north Macon. It was reported that 28 year old Damien DeShun Nolen drove through a red traffic light, in a Hyundai Sonata, at the intersection of Arkwright Road at the Interstate 75 off ramp. The vehicle almost hit several other vehicles as it made this maneuver. A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy was at the same intersection and witnessed the incident.

The traffic deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop with Nolen, but he sped off and turned south on Riverside Drive. Nolen traveled towards downtown Macon, reaching speeds up to 85 mph in a 50 mph zone, near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Ingleside Drive.

Nolen hit the mirror on a Nissan Altima, as he attempted to go around the vehicle, just before he reached the College Street intersection. Nolen made a right turn onto College Street and struck a power pole. He did not damage the pole, but damaged one of the tires on his vehicle. He continued south on College Street and then turned left onto Washington Avenue. As Nolen entered the curve, located in the 800 block of Washington Avenue and lost control of his vehicle. He collided with an apartment, located at 853 Washington Avenue. There was a resident inside of the apartment, but they were not injured.

Nolen was taken into custody. Nolen also had two passengers in the vehicle. One of the passengers was released on the scene. The second passenger, who was also the owner of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital for complaints.

The Georgia State Patrol will be handling the traffic accidents involved in this incident. No one else was injured during this incident.

Nolen is currently in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for numerous traffic charges, suspended/revoked license, Fleeing and Eluding, Hit and Run, and (Felony) Possession of Marijuana.
