Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Verification Information

When registering a vehicle with the state of GA a Form T-22B may be required. This form certifies that a law enforcement officer has inspected the vehicles identification number. This inspection ensures that the vehicle has not been reported stolen and that the affixed vehicle number matches the title/bill of sale.

Beginning Monday, February 7th the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is changing how citizens can obtain VIN Verifications.

VIN verifications will now be handled by APPOINTMENT ONLY at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Unit, 1130 2nd Street Macon GA 31201.

Appointment times are available as follows:

  • Monday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Thursday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
  • Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Citizens are now required to bring the vehicle and all necessary documentation to this location for Law Enforcement to perform the verification.

*Please remember that vehicles being driven to the VIN inspections are subject to all applicable Georgia traffic laws.

*If the registration window (30 days if purchased from a dealer / 7 days purchased from a private party) has expired your vehicle should be towed or trailered to the inspection appointment.
