Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot at the Blossom Hill Estates Apartments located at 4006 Mercer University Drive just after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. It was reported that a 15 year old female was found shot once, inside an apartment in building 209. A male and infant were inside the apartment at the time deputies arrived at the scene. They were not injured.

The male in the apartment, identified as 18 year old Kedrick Reynolds, was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division to be interviewed. It was discovered through the interview that the victim, 15 year old Nykhia Sampson was handling a firearm that was reported to belong to Reynolds. When Reynolds took the gun from Sampson, the gun discharged striking Sampson in the neck. Reynolds is charged at this time with Giving False Statements as his statement of the incident at the scene was not found to be true. He also has a Probation Violation (Felony) and a hold for the Jones County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and booked on the charges.

The victim, Sampson, was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital to be treated for a single gunshot wound. She is still listed in critical condition. No other information is available at this time.
