The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of an aggravated assault that occurred in the 3400 block of Houston Avenue on Wednesday. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 4:12 p.m.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were originally dispatched to Houston Avenue in reference to a vehicle collision. While en-route deputies were advised of a second call of shots fired in the area. Once on scene Macon-Bibb dispatch advised deputies that a male victim was transported to Atrium Health Navicent, by personal vehicle, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators were later notified that the male victim was 12 years old. After further investigation it was discovered that the vehicle that the 12-year-old occupied along with other occupants was reported as stolen.

Investigators made contact with the male driver of the black Chevy Tahoe that was involved in the vehicle collision. The driver advised Investigators that while on Houston Avenue he noticed a vehicle that his girlfriend had reported stolen earlier in the day, at the intersection of Houston Avenue and Villa Crest Avenue. The driver of the Tahoe tried to make contact with the vehicle failing to yield at the stop sign and collided with a Silver SUV. It was reported that gunfire was exchanged between the occupants from the stolen vehicle and the owner of the Tahoe.

At this time, this incident is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Aggravated Assault Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of an aggravated assault that occurred in the 3400 block of Houston Ave. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 4:12 p.m.

Bibb Sheriff’s deputies were originally dispatched to Houston Ave in reference to a vehicle collision. While en-route deputies were advised of a second call of shots fired in the area. Once on scene Macon-Bibb dispatch advised deputies that a male victim was transported to Atrium Health Navicent, by personal vehicle, in reference to a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The male is currently listed to be in stable condition.

Investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, it is undetermined if the two incidents are related. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
