The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred at the “Smoke Shop”, located at 3076 Riverside Drive. The incident took place at around 1:53p.m. Tuesday.

It was reported that a white male suspect entered the store. He brandished a handgun and demanded money from the register. Once the suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash, he ran out of the store. The suspect was last seen driving a silver colored Volvo station wagon. The suspect fled the scene, headed north on Riverside Drive. No one was injured during this incident.

Deputies were called to the scene and immediately gave a “look-out” of the suspect vehicle. Bibb County Sheriff’s patrol deputies also communicated the “look-out” information to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 2:23p.m., Monroe County deputies located the suspect vehicle from the “look-out” that was given to their agency. The vehicle was stopped on Benson Ham Road, near Juliette Road, in Forsyth.

The male suspect and a female occupant were detained until Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators arrived to transport them back to Bibb County.

James Walter Wilson Laws, 21-years-old, from Griffin, Georgia was charged with Armed Robbery and Marijuana, less than one ounce. Laws is currently being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond.

Abigail Nicole Owen, 19-years-old, from Tybee Island, Georgia was charged with Armed Robbery, Marijuana- less than one ounce, and she also has a hold from Spaulding County. Owen is currently being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond.
