Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 6700 block of Hawkinsville Road near Liberty Church Road, just after 10:00 p.m. Sunday night. It was reported that a 2015 Scion driven by David Alvord, was traveling northbound on Hawkinsville Road. Alvord did not see the pedestrian laying in the roadway until it was too late and struck him. It was reported by witnesses that the victim was lying in the roadway before Alvord struck him.
The 70-year old white male was fatally wounded and was pronounced dead on scene by Coroner Leon Jones. His name will be released once next of kin is notified.
The accident is currently being investigated and no charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
