Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a traffic accident and a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the roadway on I-75; pass the Sardis Church Road Exit at 11:46 pm Monday night. It was reported that a black 2011 Toyota Camry carrying three male passengers; was traveling southbound in the right lane when it struck the back of a tractor trailer that had pulled over to the side of the highway in the emergency lane. It was reported that when the two vehicles collided the driver 29 year old Raymond Cox of Cordele, lost control and the front passenger 27 year old Jecaives Hayward of Fort Valley, was ejected from the vehicle. It was reported that once Hayward was ejected from the vehicle he was struck by passing vehicles. The drivers of the vehicles stopped and called 911 for help.

Hayward was pronounced dead on scene by Coroner Leon Jones.  Driver Raymond Cox and 32 year old Oker Smith of Fortvalley, the back seat passenger was transported to the Navicent Health center and is listed in stable condition.

 No one else was injured in the accident.
