The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was called to the BB&T bank, located at 3525 Mercer University Drive, before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, in reference to a suspicious package. Bank employees contacted the Sheriff’s Office as they were getting ready to open the bank for business. A box that looked like a fishing tackle box or file box was located just outside of the business.  Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the bank. The bank employees were asked to leave the parking lot, until the scene was rendered safe.

Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies called the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordinance Disposal Squad to the scene. Members of the E.O.D.
