Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators charged an individual in connection to a bank robbery attempt that took place at the Truist Bank, located at 3600 Mercer University Drive. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 11:08 a.m., Friday.

It was reported that a male individual walked into the bank and handed a note to a bank employee. The note indicated that the male wanted money from the register. The male individual discovered that the employee was not behind a working register and immediately ran out of the bank, without any money.

Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators were notified of the male’s location and that he wanted to turn himself in. The male was located in the parking lot of a shopping center, located on Presidential Parkway. He was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Annex and was interviewed about the incident.

After being interviewed, the male, 41-year-old William Jeffery Lowder Jr., was taken into custody.

Lowder is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charge of Attempted Robbery.
