Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Marshals South East Regional Task Force arrested a Macon man in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Deroderick Ridley that happened on June 2, 2019.

With the help of a tip called into the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers as to the location of the suspect, deputies were able to take 24-year-old Brandon Matthew Tyler into custody without incident. Tyler was located at an apartment in the Park Apartments at 3876 Northside Drive. He was taken into custody at 12:20 a.m. this evening.

Tyler was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Murder. He is being held without bond at this time. Tyler also had a warrant for Probation Violation on an unrelated case.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide in West Macon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred at the corner of Log Cabin Drive and Hill Crest Ave, just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday night. Deputies responded to a report of two people shot in the parking lot of Just Right barbershop. Upon arrival deputies found two men lying in the parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds. The men were identified as 22-year-old Deroderick Ridley and 25-year-old Marquise Simmons.

Simmons was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center by ambulance and is listed in stable condition. Ridley was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center by patrol vehicle due to no ambulances being available for transport at that time.

Ridley was later pronounced dead by Corner Leon Jones. The next of kin has been notified by Corner Jones.

The suspect had already fled the scene before Deputies arrived. No one else was injured during the incident. There is no description of the suspect.
