On August 20, 2019, at 8:44 a.m. Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol deputies responded to 4525 Forsyth Road, Honey Baked Ham, in response to a report of a burglary.

Upon arriving deputies talked to an employee 36-year-old David Emmanuel Garcia, of Macon. Garcia stated that the camera system had been cut out and money was missing from the safe. While talking to Garcia deputies noticed that he was acting nervous and jumpy. Deputies could find no marks or signs of any forced entry into the business or the safe where the money was kept.

Deputies detained Garcia and he was taken to talk to an investigator and it was determined that Garcia had taken the money and tried to cover it up by stating the business was burglarized. A small ball of aluminum foil that was in Garcia’s pocket when he was searched was found to have what appeared to be methamphetamine.

Garcia was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Fiduciary Theft by Taking and Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance. He is being held on a $12,500.00 bond at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
