Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 2800 block of Pio NoNo Ave just after 7:00 a.m. Monday January 8, 2018. It was reported that a 1998 Lexus LS400, driven by 44 year old David Hitchcock of Milledgeville, was traveling south on Pio NoNo Ave. Hitchcock did not see the pedestrian now identified as 59yr old Richard Mitchem of Byron Ga, as he was crossing the roadway and struck him.
Mitchem was pronounced dead on scene by Coroner Leon Jones.

Traffic Fatality Involving A Pedestrian
Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 2800 block of Pio NoNo Ave just after 7:00 a.m. Monday morning. It was reported that a 1998 Lexus LS400, driven by 44 year old David Hitchcock of Milledgeville, was traveling south on Pio NoNo Ave. Hitchcock did not see the pedestrian, crossing the roadway and struck him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene by Coroner Leon Jones. The name of the pedestrian will be released once next of kin is notified.
The accident is currently being investigated and no charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
