The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the Magnolia Court Motel, located in the 4700 block of Pio Nono Avenue. This portion of the motel is located directly behind the Valero gas station. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 3:15 p.m.
Witnesses stated that an altercation occurred between two individuals at the motel. One of the individuals brandished a handgun and shot the other. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and crossed Pio Nono Avenue. A description of the suspect was given to responding deputies. The patrol deputies located the suspect just after he crossed Pio Nono Avenue and entered the parking lot of the Magnolia Court Motel. This portion of the motel is on the eastern side of Pio Nono Avenue. Patrol deputies apprehended the suspect and also recovered a handgun.
The suspect, 34-year-old Willie Lee Daniel III, was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division to be interviewed and then transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Daniel is currently being held without bond for the charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and a Probation Violation Superior Court.
The victim of the shooting, 32-year-old Lance Michael Terrell, was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the next of kin has been notified.
