The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that was reported near the intersection of Eastview Avenue and Hawkinsville Avenue.
It was reported that deputies responded to several calls of shots fired in the area around 1:20 a.m. on Monday morning. When deputies arrived on scene they did not hear shots fired or make contact with anyone firing shots. Just after 5:04 a.m. a call of a person down came into the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office call center. When deputies arrived on scene they found a male dead from a gunshot wound laying near an alleyway. The male was later identified as 29-year-old Dominique Lamar Phillips of Macon. Investigators are continuing to investigate the incident in an attempt to determine the events surrounding this incident.
The next of kin was notified by Coroner Leon Jones. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
