Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies were patrolling on Holt Avenue near Montpelier Avenue, just before 01:00a.m. A patrol deputy noticed an occupied Buick Road Master was parked on the wrong side of Holt Avenue.

The Deputies initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle. The vehicle had two occupants, the driver, 23-year-old Torry Jarrell Slater and his passenger.

During the traffic stop, the deputies spotted a drug scale and a book-bag partially hid under Slater’s legs. When deputies told Slater to turn the vehicle off he put the car in drive and speed off. Slater struck two patrol vehicles damaging them. Slater almost struck two deputies while driving off. 

After a brief pursuit, Slater stopped the vehicle on McKenzie Drive, both he and the passenger fled the area on foot. Deputies were able to take Slater into custody after a short struggle.

While searching Slater and the book-bag, deputies located over 2oz. of Marijuana, a semi-auto pistol that was stolen in 2016 and over $6,000.00 in cash. 

The passenger was able to flee on foot before deputies were able to locate him. 

Slater was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Felony Obstruction of Peace Officer, three charges of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, two counts of Interference of Government Property, Reckless Conduct, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Theft by Receiving Felony. Slater also had warrants from an unrelated case for Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Fleeing and Eluding. Slater is being held in the Bibb County Jail without a bond at this time.
