Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking into the death of 61-year-old Bernard Gibson. Mr. Gibson was reported missing by his wife Monday morning. It was reported that Mr. Gibson was last seen between the hours of 5:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. Monday. It was reported that Mr. Gibson had left his phone and wallet behind at home.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call just before 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday in reference to Mr. Gibson’s truck being found parked in the Riverwalk parking lot. Bibb County Sheriff Investigators , Bibb County Fire Department and Georgia State Patrol helicopters helped search the area for Mr. Gibson. Mr. Gibson was located in the Ocmulgee River by Investigators searching near the banks.

At this time there appeared to be no signs of foul play. According to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office, an autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
