Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators were notified that 37-year-old ShaunMillswas located and apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, in Anniston, Alabama.

Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators had warrants issued for the arrest of Shaun Mills, for the charges of Felony Murder and (2) counts of Aggravated Assault in connection with the death of Pinal Kumar Patel, that occurred on Thoroughbred Lane. Shaun Mills was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in Anniston, Alabama. He is awaiting extradition for charges in Jones County and then he will face Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault charges in Bibb County.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are pending.

Update: Suspect Charged in Connection with Death Investigation on Thoroughbred Lane

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged a male individual in connection with the death of Pinal Kumar Patel, that occurred on Friday, January 21, 2023, on Thoroughbred Lane.

Through the course of the investigation, Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators identified 40-year-old Terrell Ugean Mills as one of the suspects involved in connection with Mr. Patel’s death. Mills is currently being held at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office for charges from their agency.

After identifying Mills as one of the suspects, Bibb Sheriff’s investigators went to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and interviewed Mills about the death of Mr. Patel. After interviewing Mills about the incident, warrants were issued for Mills for the charges of Felony-Murder and (two counts) of Aggravated Assault. Additional charges are pending.

Public’s Assistance Requested Locating Vehicle And Persons Of Interest In Thoroughbred Lane Death Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a dark in color 4-door vehicle. Investigators are also asking for assistance identifying persons of interest in this case. This is in reference to the homicide of Pinal Kumar Patel who was shot in his driveway in the 300 block of Thoroughbred Lane on Friday, January 21, 2023, at 11:01p.m.

It was reported that Mr. Patel and his family were arriving home from work when the family was confronted by three masked individuals with guns. Mr. Patel confronted the three and while doing so, shots were fired at the family. The three masked individuals then ran to a dark in color vehicle waiting across the street occupied by a fourth person. The individuals then fled the scene. No items were reported to have been taken from the family.

Investigators continue to work this incident and are committed to utilizing the full resources that law enforcement can provide to resolve this case.

Death Investigation on Thoroughbred Lane

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in the 300 block of Thoroughbred Lane at 11:01p.m. Friday.

Deputies responded to Thoroughbred Lane in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival deputies found 52-year-old Pinal Kumar Patel, his wife Rupalben Patel, and child Bhakti Patel, suffering from gunshot wounds in the driveway of their home. All three were transported to Atrium Health where Mr. Patel was later pronounced deceased by Deputy Coroner Luann Stone. Mrs. Patel and her daughter are listed in stable condition.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are still actively investigating this incident. Further details will be released once more information becomes available.
