Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in a homicide investigation that occurred in the parking lot of the Best Western, located in the 2400 block of Riverside Drive.
Through the course of the investigation, Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators discovered that 27-year-old Chauncey Jevon Love II, and two other men drove up from Florida, to make a marijuana transaction. Investigators stated that the individuals that met with Love may also be from out of town, and they are working on identifying and locating these individuals.
During the transaction, Love was shot by the individuals that they were meeting with. Love attempted to drive away after being shot. His vehicle crossed over Riverside Drive and went into a ditch. The passengers that were with Love, jumped out of the vehicle, and ran across the interstate. Investigators are continuing to speak with those men. Love was pronounced deceased at the scene by Coroner Ronnie Miley.
The individuals involved in the shooting death of Love fled in two separate vehicles. One of the vehicles is a dark gray Infiniti, and the other vehicle was a silver colored Toyota Camry. Photographs of the suspect vehicles and video footage from the incident are attached to this media release.
Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify and locate the individuals driving the Toyota Camry and the Infiniti. It was reported that a male was shot in a vehicle in the parking lot of 2400 Riverside Drive just after 11:00 p.m. When deputies arrived they found 27-year-old Chauncey Jevon Love II, from Orange Park, Florida unresponsive. Love attempted to drive away after being shot. The vehicle crossed over Riverside Drive and went into the ditch. No one else was injured during the incident. Next of kin has been notified at this time. Love was pronounced deceased on scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley.
There is no information on the suspect or what lead up to the incident at this time.
