Bibb County Sheriff’s Violent Crime Investigators identified and arrested a suspect in connection to the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Morgan Smith.
Roderick William Chester, age 32 of Jackson Ga., warrants were served on Thursday at 2:16 p.m. Chester is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charge of Murder.
This is an ongoing investigation. Warrants were also served on Chester for Simple Battery in an unrelated case.

Homicide Investigation in west Macon
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that took place at a residence, located at 2881 Walmar Drive, in west Macon.
The Sheriff’s Office was called after a maintenance worker arrived at the residence for repair work. He was told by one of the kids that their Mom was unresponsive.
Morgan Smith, age 26, was found shot, inside the residence. Investigators were immediately called to the scene. The investigation is in its early stages. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
The two small kids were removed from the area and taken to a safe location, by Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators. The kids were not injured during this incident. According to Coroner Jones, the next of kin has been notified.
