Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested a female individual after she attempted to alter and cash a stolen check on Wednesday afternoon. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were called to the Cadence Bank, located on Forsyth Road, in reference to a possible fraud.

It was reported that 33-year-old Katherine Elaine Redman  was in possession of a check that was stolen out of a mailbox from a local veterinarian’s office.  Redman attempted to alter the check and cash it at the Cadence Bank, for the amount of $9,659.50.

Employees contacted the business owner and the Sheriff’s Office after noticing that the check had been altered.  Deputies arrived at the bank and immediately notified investigators of the incident.  Redman was taken to investigations, where she was interviewed by property investigators.

After the interview, Redman was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Redman is currently being held at the Bibb County L.E.C. for the charges of Forgery, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property-Felony, and Negotiating Checks- Knowing Information is in Error or Fictitious. Redman has a bond for the amount of $17,000.00.
