The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault that took place near the shopping center located in the 1400 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The incident was reported to have happened at 5:46 p.m.
According to witness statements, a fight broke out between several individuals in the parking lot of the Little Caesars, located at 1477 Pio Nono Avenue. A male individual, 29-year-old Kenneth Bernard Campbell, left the parking lot and drove down Montpelier Avenue. Campbell returned back to the area and was reported to have been shot while driving on Montpelier Avenue, near the Little Caesars and Chevron gas station. Campbell lost control of his vehicle and drove over a water main, located next to Little Caesars, before coming to a complete stop.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene and found Campbell unresponsive. The deputies got Campbell out of the vehicle and performed C.P.R., (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), until Paramedics arrived. Campbell was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.
This investigation is in its early stages. Investigators and crime scene investigators are collecting evidence and speaking with possible witnesses in an attempt to gather information in reference to the events surrounding this incident. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
