The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault that was reported to have taken place in the parking lot of the Auto Zone that is located at 905 Shurling Drive. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 6:47 p.m.
The victim, 65-year-old Ernest Wilkes was reported to have been shot while in the parking of the Auto Zone. He drove himself home, approximately seven miles away. The Macon-Bibb 911 Center was called. Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS responded to his residence. Wilkes was transported to the hospital by ambulance. He is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
