Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 100 block of Tom Hill SR Blvd just before 11:00 p.m. Thursday night. It was reported that a 2003 Saturn ION, driven by 27 year old Destinie Johnson of Macon, was traveling east on Tom Hill SR Blvd. It was reported that Johnson swerved into the turning lane to avoid a vehicle that pulled out in front of her. While doing so, she did not see the pedestrian, standing in the turning lane and struck him.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the Navicent Health Center. Information was given early in the investigation that the pedestrian was thought to be a 68 year old Charles Norman Campbell. It has since been learned that Mr. Campbell is not the pedestrian. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with the Bibb County Coroner’s Office to identify the gentleman struck and fatally injured Thursday night.

The accident is currently being investigated and no charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
