Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a traffic incident that occurred just after 10:00 p.m. Thursday night on I-75 North at Mercer University Drive. It was reported that a 25 year old female was being transported by ambulance to the Navicent Health Hospital. She was riding in the back of the ambulance when she unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out of the ambulance as the vehicle was traveling north on I-75. She was talking with paramedics and cooperative prior to jumping out of the ambulance. She was taken on to the Navicent Health Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The female, identified as 25 year old Cassandra Stephenson, was pronounced dead at the Navicent Health Hospital at 11:25 a.m. Friday morning from the injuries she sustained in the incident.
Prior to the incident on the interstate, it was reported that she was at the Flash Foods located at 4700 Hartley Bridge Road causing a disturbance at the store. She had left the store before Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, but was found a short time later on Mount Pleasant Church Road. She requested then to go to the hospital to be checked out and an ambulance was called to the location.
