It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that 62-year-old Melvin Butler passed away due to injuries he sustained in the accident. He was pronounced deceased on May 25, 2022, at 8:55 p.m. by the Atrium Health staff.
Next of kin has been notified.

Traffic Collision with Injuries on Broadway at Mead Road
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a traffic collision that occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on Broadway at Mead Road.
It was reported that a tractor trailer, an empty log truck, driven by a 36-year-old male of Lizella, was making a right-hand turn off Mead Road onto Broadway. 62-year-old Melvin Butler, who was on a bicycle, was coming from the Food Mart at the corner of Antioch and Broadway, and rode his bicycle into the rear tires of the trailer.
The 62-year-old Melvin Butler, of Macon, was transported the Atrium Health and is listed in critical condition at this time. No one else was injured in the incident. The next of kin has been notified of the incident.
No charges are pending at this time.
