Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged a suspect in connection with the Death Investigation of Tanesha Danielle Thomas, that occurred July 12, 2021 on Karen Drive.

The boyfriend of Tanesha Thomas was interviewed by investigators on July 12, 2021,  in reference to the shooting incident. After the interview, the boyfriend, Leonard Dewayne Holmes was arrested for two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Investigators continued to go over the evidence and speak with possible witnesses about the incident.

Tuesday night, investigators had additional warrants issued for Holmes for the charges of Murder and Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution or Sale of Marijuana. Holmes is currently being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond.

Fatal Shooting Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 5:18 a.m. The incident took place in the 1700 block of Karen Drive.

It was reported that a female was taken to the Coliseum Hospital Emergency Room by vehicle. The Coliseum medical staff contacted the Sheriff’s Office after finding out that she suffered from a gunshot wound.

The female victim, 38-year-old Tanesha Danielle Thomas, was then transported to the Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance, due to the seriousness of her gunshot wound. 

Thomas was pronounced deceased at 12:42 p.m.  According to the Coroner’s Office, the next of kin has been notified.
