Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Shawn Deontae Watts that occurred on Grier Street, Tuesday evening.
According to investigators, 24-year-old Khalil MalikRaines drove his brother, Cleveland Raines, from Grier Street, to the hospital. While at the hospital, investigators transported Kahlil to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division to be interviewed about the fatal shooting incident. After being interviewed by investigators about the incident, Raines was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.
Khalil Malik Raines is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charge of Murder.

Fatal Shooting Incident on Grier Street
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the 700 block of Grier Street. The incident took place at around 4:00 p.m.
It was reported that two men were shot behind a duplex on Grier Street. One of the men was fatally wounded, he was identified as Shawn Deontae Watts, age 24. According to the Coroner’s Office, the next of kin has been notified.
The second male, 18-year-old Cleveland Raines, was transported to the Atrium Health Navicent, and he is listed to be in stable condition.
This investigation is in its early stages and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
