The suspect has been identified as 24yr old Victor Tran, of Macon. Tran was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on December 31, 2015, just before 1:00p.m. He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm in unauthorized location/hospital. His bond was set at $2,125.00.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office along with the Navicent Health Hospital Police Department responded to a person with a gun outside the hospital just after 6:00p.m. tonight. Navicent Health Police Department received a call in regards to a male subject with a gun, standing outside of the main entrance of the hospital on Hemlock Street. Officers found an Asian Male standing just outside of the Heart Tower with a pistol in his hands.

Navicent Health Police Officers were able to secure the area and made sure that no one was in any immediate danger and contacted the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the situation.

Prior to Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies arriving, Officers with Navicent began trying to talk to the male, attempting to get him to put the gun down. He appeared to be emotionally distraught but did not show signs of aggression towards anyone.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Hostage Negotiations Team and S.W.A.T.  Team along with Officers from Navicent worked together to get the male subject to give up the gun and surrender peacefully.  He was taken into custody just before 7:50p.m. tonight and escorted to the Navicent Health Emergency Center for treatment.
