The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened in the 3600 block of Dawn Street at 05:24 a.m.
It was reported that 31-year-old Anthony Benard Burke, went to an address in the 3600 block of Dawn Street where his ex-girlfriend lives, and got into a physical altercation with her after busting a window and kicking in the front door. During the fight the ex-girlfriend’s sister’s boyfriend tried to stop the fight. That is when the males got into a physical altercation. During the incident Burke was shot, while struggling over a gun. Burke was pronounced deceased on the scene by Bibb County Coroner’s Office personnel. No one else was injured during the incident. The next of kin has been notified at this time.
Burke had active warrants for Battery and Criminal Damage to Property related to a prior incident with his ex-girlfriend at the Dawn Street address. No charges have been filed at this time.
