The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Interstate 75 South near the Pierce Avenue On-ramp. The collision was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:43 p.m., on November 27, 2023, Monday.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a collision involving five motor vehicles. A box truck, three pickup trucks, and a sport utility vehicle were involved in the collision. One male motorist was discovered to have succumbed to his injuries sustained from the collision, he was identified as 66-year-old Jeffrey Louis Davis of Lyons, Georgia. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the next of kin has been notified. Four other motorists were treated by paramedics for injuries sustained from the collision and were transported to a medical facility. They are all listed in stable condition. One additional motorist was observed to have minor injuries.
Investigators are working to determine what occurred during the collision. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
