Update: Fatal Traffic Accident Involving a Pedestrian
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Ga. Highway 247, southbound at around 6:00 a.m. this morning. It was reported that a white female was crossing the roadway on Highway 247 when she was struck by a white 1996 Dodge Dakota Pickup, driven by 51 year old Samuel Callaway Jr., of Macon. A second vehicle, a Gray 2001 Ford Mustang driven by 53 year old John Elliot of Gray, also struck the victim. The vehicles were traveling south bound on Hawkinsville Road at the time of the accident.
The 6000 block of Hawkinsville Road is blocked while Bibb County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Investigators work the accident scene. No other injuries were reported.
The female has been identified as 29 year old Amanda Phaye Burton of Ohio.
