The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle fatal traffic accident that occurred near the intersection of Broadway and Houston Avenue. The accident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:32 a.m., Thursday morning.
A motorist was driving a silver Nissan Altima southbound on Broadway. The motorist lost control of his vehicle when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop. Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered the motorist, thirty-year-old Dmondo Eugene Simmons, unresponsive. Medical treatment was provided on the scene, but Simmons succumbed to his injuries. No one else was involved in the accident.
Dmondo Simmons was pronounced deceased on the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. According to Deputy Coroner Miley, the next of kin has been notified.
This accident is still under investigation. The intersection of Houston Avenue and Broadway is currently closed as a result of the accident and will reopen when repairs have been completed.

Fatal Traffic Accident Investigation on Broadway
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle fatal traffic accident that occurred near the intersection of Broadway and Houston Avenue. The accident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:32 a.m., Thursday morning.
A motorist was driving a silver Nissan Altima southbound on Broadway. The motorist lost control of his vehicle when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop. Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered the motorist, a thirty-year-old male, unresponsive. Medical treatment was provided on the scene, but the motorist succumbed to his injuries. No one else was involved in the accident.
The motorist was pronounced deceased on the scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. According to Deputy Coroner Miley, the next of kin has not been notified. The identity of the motorist will not be released at this time.
This accident is still under investigation.
