The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a “Hit and Run” accident, involving a pedestrian that took place on Pio Nono Avenue at Carroll Street,  at around 8:51p.m., Sunday.  Coroner Miley stated that the victim, 38-year-old Antonial Tontee White of Macon passed away at the Navicent Health at around 10:36p.m. Sunday night.  The Coroner’s Office has notified the next of kin.

According to witness statements, White was crossing the north bound lanes of travel on Pio Nono Avenue with his dog. A vehicle that was traveling north as White was crossing the roadway, hit the dog. As White went over to tend to the dog, a black in color Cadillac Escalade, also traveling north on Pio Nono Avenue, struck White.  The vehicle continued north, after the collision.

Mr. White was transported by ambulance to the Navicent Health Center where he later passed from the injuries that he received during this accident. Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies and Macon-Bibb Animal Control Officers located the injured dog. The dog was transported to the Macon-Bibb Animal Shelter to be seen by a veterinarian. According to the Macon-Bibb Animal Shelter, the dog had a broken ankle, but is in stable condition.

Bibb Sheriff’s Fatality Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in helping locate the suspect vehicle. The vehicle is described as a black in color Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle was also described as having large aftermarket rims and a Florida license plate. There should be damage to the front of the vehicle.
