The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred on Montpelier Avenue, just after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday.

On February 14, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence within the 2300 block of Montpelier Avenue after a call came into the E-911 Emergency Center reporting a person shot. Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with a forty-nine-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment. According to Coroner Leon Jones, Ernestine Frye was pronounced deceased at Atrium Health Navicent. The next of kin has been notified. No one else was injured during the incident.

Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.

Aggravated Assault Investigation on Montpelier Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault incident that occurred on Montpelier Avenue, just after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday.

On February 14, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence within the 2300 block of Montpelier Avenue after a call came into the E-911 Emergency Center reporting a person shot.
