The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred within the 200 block of Broadway. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 3:01 a.m., Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to the Riverview Hotel located at 205 Broadway in reference to a person who was reported shot. It was reported that an unknown male was attempting to gain entry into a parked Mercedes sedan when he was shot by the occupant who was asleep inside.  When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a 36-year-old male on Broadway, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene to provide the male medical treatment. He was then transported to Atrium Health Navicent. According to medical staff, the male who was later identified as Eric Ivan Searcy-Bryson of Macon, had succumbed to his injury. According to Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley, the next of kin has been notified.

No one else was reported injured related to this incident.

Death Investigation on Broadway

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred within the 200 block of Broadway. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 3:01 a.m., Tuesday morning.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a 36-year-old male on Broadway, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. It was reported that the male was attempting to gain entry into a parked Mercedes sedan when he was shot by the occupant inside.  Paramedics responded to the scene to provide the male medical treatment. He was then transported to Atrium Health Navicent. According to medical staff, the male succumbed to his injury. No one else was reported injured. The identity of the male will not be released at this time. The next of kin has not been notified.
