The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting incident that happened in the parking lot of Academy Sports, located at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway. The Macon-Bibb 911 Center was notified around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
It was reported that a 15-year-old male, later identified as Tavias La’zhae Williams was found with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Southwest High School. He was transported to Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance, where he later died of his injuries. Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones notified the family of Williams’ death.
Investigators are currently investigating what led up to the shooting. More information will be given once it becomes available.
