Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators identified the body of a man who was found deceased in the Ocmulgee River Sunday afternoon. A friend of the family was watching the news and recognized several of the tattoos that were described on the newscast about deceased. Family members met with Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators Monday morning and identified the deceased as 48-year-old Shean Tyrone Atkinson.
It was reported that Atkinson was homeless and lived in a campsite near the Ocmulgee River.
An autopsy will be performed on Atkinson on Tuesday according to the Coroner’s Office.
