The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious package at the Child Network Daycare, located at 3940 Northside Drive, just after 9:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. It was reported that a black vehicle, possibly a Nissan, pulled off the roadway on Northside Drive between the Child Network and American Lube Fast. A white male exited the vehicle with a cardboard box in hand. He ran over to the outside fenced in area of the daycare and threw the box over into the fenced in area of the daycare. After throwing the box, he ran back to the vehicle and fled in the vehicle, westbound on Northside Drive towards Forest Hill Road.

All of the children were immediately evacuated by employees at the daycare center. The children and employees have been moved to a safe location.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit arrived on scene and accessed the package. After careful examination of the package, it was found to be a cardboard box containing a wire, some washers and a small micro-chip. The package did not contain any type of explosive device. The Child Network Center was declared to be clear and safe and the children and employees have returned to the building. No one was injured during the incident.

The incident is being investigated. Anyone with information in reference to the incident or suspect is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
