Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 17 year old Amir Chance Nelms of Stone Mountain Georgia in reference to the incident that occurred Sunday evening in the parking lot of 5928 Zebulon Road. Nelms was caught by deputies with the assistance of a citizen that saw Nelms running from the scene. Nelms is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and discharging of a firearm on the property of another. Nelms has a bond set at $11,050.00. He remains in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Investigators are currently working on identifying other suspects involved in the incident and the possibility of this incident being connected to the incident that occurred on North Avenue early Sunday morning at around 12:30a.m. where shots were fired at a male running from a Kia vehicle.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Incident Involving Stolen Vehicle 

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that occurred at around 6:00p.m., Sunday evening, involving some individuals following a stolen vehicle.

It was reported that today, some people had saw 2 males they said had broken into some vehicles at the Summer Park Apartments located at 4658 Mercer University Drive on Saturday night. They followed the vehicle the suspected males were in, which was a Silver Honda Accord. The males following the suspect vehicle called the Macon-Bibb 911 Dispatch to report the information and that they were following the vehicle. Deputies were dispatched to a location near Zebulon Road. While enroute to the location, deputies received additional information that there was a fight and shots were fired in the parking lot near the Kroger at 5928 Zebulon Road.

When deputies arrived at the parking lot on Zebulon Road they located the Honda Accord. It was reported that one of the suspects in the Honda Accord did fire a gun at the males that were following them in the vehicle after they stopped in the parking lot. Another person trying to assist in catching one of the suspects chased the suspect on foot. Deputy Moneypenny caught up to the individual and placed him in custody. The Silver Honda Accord was stolen. No one was injured during the incident.

This incident is currently being investigated and investigators are interviewing the suspect.  No further information is available at this time.
