Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call at around 1:00 p.m. about a traffic accident with injuries on I-75 South between the Pio Nono Avenue Exit and the Hartley Bridge Road Exit. It was reported that a 2010 Toyota 4-Runner was traveling south in the center lane, driven by 26 year old Stacey Byrd of Unadilla Georgia. A 2000 Honda Accord traveling south, ahead of the Toyota suddenly braked. The driver of the Toyota could not avoid striking the rear of the Honda. After being struck the Honda went off the right shoulder of the interstate into the wooded area and struck a tree, coming to a stop.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 90 year old Mary Virginia Frum of Houston County. The driver of the Toyota was checked at the scene by EMS but was not transported for any injuries.
