Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call of a single vehicle accident with injuries at around 12:40PM Sunday afternoon, at Conestoga Trail and Santa Fe Trail in Lake Wildwood.
When deputies arrived they saw a male trapped under a 1999 UD Tow Truck. Macon-Bibb Firefighters were on the scene attempting to get the vehicle off of the male. Firefighters were able to get the male, who was identified as 36 year old Derrick Gordon, of Macon, out from under the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gordon was the driver of the vehicle. The next of kin was notified by Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
It was reported that the vehicle was traveling north on Conestoga Trail towards Santa Fe Trail. It was also reported that the driver’s door appeared to be open on the vehicle. The vehicle veered off of the right side of the road, striking some tree limbs and a ditch, coming to rest in the ditch with the Gordon pinned underneath.
