A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call of gunshots being fired at 140 Prentice Place, Sunset Park Apartments just after 10:00PM Thursday night. It was reported, when Deputy George Witherspoon arrived he saw a black male standing outside a pickup truck, in the parking lot of the apartment complex, holding a handgun.

Deputy Witherspoon told the unknown male to drop the gun. The male, identified as 24 year old DeMichael Wilmore pointed the gun at Witherspoon. Deputy Witherspoon fired one shot, striking Wilmore in the upper right arm. Deputy Witherspoon notified the Macon-Bibb 911 Radio Dispatch of the shots fired and requested an ambulance for Wilmore.

Wilmore was transported by ambulance to the Navicent Health to be treated for the gunshot wound. He is listed in stable condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting incident.

DeMichael RoShawn Wilmore was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and booked on the charge at around 7:20AM this morning, after being released from the Navicent Health Hospital. He has no bond set at this time.
