The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Tuesday morning just after 8:00 a.m. in the 900 block of High Street in reference to a black male, reported to be a suspect in the double homicide that occurred in Pulaski County earlier Tuesday. The call was received from a relative of the possible suspect.

The suspect we are searching for was identified as 24 year old Dennis Penix. He was last seen wearing dark blue shirt, black shorts and no shoes. He has tattoos covering his upper body. He was last seen running from 963 High Street. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies, GBI Investigators and US Marshals with the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force are searching the area and surrounding areas around High Street, Walnut Street and Orange Street, expanding their search out. The surrounding schools have also been notified of the search.

Deputies spotted the suspect just after 10:00 a.m. in the area of the Post Office on College Street. With the assistance of GBI and US Marshals, Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended the suspect in the area of Washington Park.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone, to include the Macon-Bibb 911 Dispatchers and K9’s from Central State Prison, that assisted in the search and capture of Dennis Penix.
