It was reported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office that the 15-year-old passenger in the stolen vehicle pursuit was pronounced deceased on September 3, 2023, after 7:00 p.m. by Atrium Staff.

Bibb County Deputies Pursue Stolen Auto Suspects

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit with a stolen auto just after 01:00 a.m…

Bibb County Patrol and K-9 units responded to the area of Emery Highway and Womack Street regarding locating a stolen auto. Deputies witnessed two male subjects getting into the vehicle at the Exxon Gas Station at 584 Emery Highway. When deputies attempted to make contact with the vehicle it sped off down Coliseum Drive towards downtown at a high rate of speed. That is when deputies then activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle continued at a high rate of speed on Coliseum Drive going through downtown onto Broadway. While on Broadway the suspects attempted to hit a deputy’s vehicle multiple times with their vehicle. Deputies conducted a precision immobilization technique on the suspects’ vehicle. When the technique was conducted, the suspects’ vehicle lost control and hit the curb causing it to flip over into a power pole, fire hydrant, and a fence that was on the shoulder of the road. Deputies located both the driver and passenger of the vehicle and rendered aid until medical personnel arrived.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to the Atrium Health Hospital. The driver a 16-year-old male is listed in stable but critical condition currently. The 15-year-old passenger is listed in critical condition.

Georgia State Patrol was called out to work the vehicle wreck.
