Bibb County Investigators arrested 18-year-old Dontavious Brown in connection to the fatal vehicle accident that killed 14-year-old Shakala Hill on February 17, 2020.

It was reported that Dontavious Brown was a back seat passenger in the vehicle when the accident occurred.  Dontavious was arrested on February 25, 2020, when he reported to school at Westside High School.  Dontavious was transported to the Property Investigation office to be interviewed and then transported to the Bibb Law Enforcement Center.

Dontavious was charged with two counts of theft by receiving for stolen auto and stolen firearm. Dontavious’ bond was set at $4,700.00. Dontavious has posted bond.

Public Assistance In Locating Second  Suspect In Fatal Traffic Accident

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 17-year-old Drequan Brown, who is the brother of Dontavious Brown. Drequan Brown also has  warrants for two counts of theft by receiving  stolen auto and stolen firearm. It was reported that Drequan was the front seat passenger in the vehicle when the accident occurred. It has been confirmed  that Dontavious and Drequan are the two that were witnessed running from the scene of the accident.

Fatal Traffic Accident on Napier Avenue at Habersham Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Napier Avenue near Habersham Avenue at 01:40 a.m.

It was reported that Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies witnessed a Nissan Sentra fail to stop at the traffic light on Park Street, as it was making a left turn onto Napier Avenue. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off down Napier Avenue at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle on Napier Avenue near Habersham Avenue and struck a utility pole and multiple trees.

The vehicle rolled over onto its roof and all the occupants were ejected from the car. Three juveniles remained on the scene; two unknown subjects fled the scene. One of the juveniles a 14-year-old female was pronounced deceased on scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. A second 15-year-old female juvenile and a 15-year-old male juvenile were taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment. Both are listed in stable condition at this time. The next of kin for the deceased has been notified at this time. It was also determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen on February 12, 2020.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, one of the semi-auto pistols was Smith & Wesson 9mm that was reported stolen out of Monroe County.

The 15-year-old male, who was the driver is being charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Auto, Reckless Driving, Felony Fleeing, and Eluding and Felony Murder. He is still at the Navicent Health Medical Center being treated for his injuries. At this time, he is being charged as a juvenile, he will be taken to the Macon RYDC as soon as he is released from the hospital.
