On March 8, 2024, at 2:34 p.m., forty-nine-year-old Derrick Jermaine Berry of Macon was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Derrick Berry was wanted in Bibb County in connection with the death of forty-four-year-old Tavores Maurice Pearson on January 16, 2024.

Berry was apprehended by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Kennesaw, Georgia on March 7, 2024, Thursday morning. Berry was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Friday afternoon.

Derrick Jermaine Berry faces a charge of Murder. He does not have a bond.

Death Investigation on Houston Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred within the 3200 block of Houston Avenue. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 9:25 p.m., Monday evening.

Deputies responded to the scene and observed 44-year-old Tavores Maurice Pearson of Macon, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment. He would later succumb to his injury. Deputy Coroner Richard Robinson pronounced Pearson deceased. According to medical staff, the next of kin has been notified.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting.

Aggravated Assault Investigation on Houston Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at the local strip mall within the 3200 block of Houston Avenue. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 9:25 p.m., Monday evening.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and observed a 44-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment. He is listed in critical condition. No one else was injured during the incident.
