On Tuesday afternoon, Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations Safe Streets Gang Task Force, located and apprehended a suspect in connection with the Midsouth Federal Credit Union Armed Robbery that took place on April 5, 2022.

Through the course of the investigation, Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators identified the suspect as 55-year-old Felix Bernard Cordes of Macon. Cordes was located on Tuesday afternoon, walking near the intersection of Sycamore Street and Forest Avenue. He was taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division to be interviewed about the Commercial Armed Robbery. After Cordes was interviewed, he was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Felix Cordes is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center , without bond, for the charges of Armed Robbery, (5) counts of Aggravated Assault, and he also has a separate charge of a Parole Violation.

Commercial Armed Robbery Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that took place at the Mid-South Community Federal Credit Union, located at 2306 Lasseter Place. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday morning.

It was reported that an individual entered the bank and brandished a weapon demanding money.  After receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the cash registers, he fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

There were no injuries reported. The Bibb County School District Campus Police and nearby schools were notified and began safety protocols during the incident.

The individual is described as a male wearing a camouflage face mask, blue jean overalls, a dark hoodie, and black and white shoes.
