Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators, along with patrol deputies, arrested a Macon man regarding the Aggravated Assault incident on Fair Street.
Investigators were able to connect 50-year-old James Edward Phillips to the aggravated assault incident on Fair Street on November 8, 2023. Phillips was taken into custody at his residence on Log Cabin Drive without incident.
Phillips was interviewed by investigators and later transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. He is being held without bond currently.

Aggravated Assault Incident on Fair Street
The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault incident that happened on Fair Street just before 6:00 p.m.
It was reported that a 32-year-old female was at a residence on Fair Street. During an altercation, an unknown subject began firing a gun. The 32-year-old female was struck in the upper body. She was transported to Atrium Health and is listed in critical condition. No one else was injured in the incident. Investigators are looking into what led up to the shooting.
There is no information on the suspect currently.
