On January 18, 2024, The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team began to make entry into the restroom of the Medical Office Building to remove an armed subject. It was at that point; that the subject took his own life. No one else was harmed during this incident. The name of the deceased will not be released at this time. The next of kin has not been notified.

Armed Subject Barricaded at Medical Facility
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Atrium Health Navicent Police with an armed male barricaded inside a restroom in a medical building.
The call for assistance came in at 9:16 p.m., from Atrium Navicent Police. It was reported that an armed male was locked inside a restroom in a Medical Office Building located at 770 Pine Street. Shots were reported fired inside the room occupied by the suspect.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, SRT, K-9 Interdiction, Hostage Negotiators, and Patrol Units responded to the scene to assess the situation. It was determined that the suspect was not holding anyone hostage inside the restroom. The suspect is contained by himself in the restroom. No one has been harmed at the medical facility. The building the subject is in is not occupied by any civilians or staff.
Currently, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is working to remove the subject from the barricaded area unharmed. Further details will be released as they become available.
