The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred at the Friends Food Mart, located at 3350 Houston Avenue. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 8:47 p.m., Monday.
It was reported that three male individuals later identified as 19-year-old Braxton Cole, 19-year-old Roderick Felton and 23-year-old Deroderick Collins were shot inside this location. The three victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance where 19-year-old Roderick Felton later died from his injuries. It was reported that Braxton Cole later died Tuesday morning from his injuries. Deroderick Collins is listed to be in stable condition.
After further investigation and review of the surveillance video it was discovered that Braxton Cole approached Roderick Felton in the parking lot and then followed him inside the Food Mart. Cole exchanged words with Felton before displayed a firearm. After Cole pulled his firearm and firing at Felton. Felton pulled his own firearm and fired back at Cole. Both Cole and Felton exchanged gunfire, striking each other and Deroderick Collins, who was a by-stander in the store. As a result of this exchange both Cole and Felton are deceased.
